Staten Island, NY Hate Crime Victim Seriously Injured

Staten Island, NY - July 25, 2010 - Five young blacks in Port Richmond attacked a 31-year-old Mexican man when he was returning home after a soccer match. The investigations revealed that the attack was due to hate crime. The anti- Mexican group abused the Mexican, beat him up, and ran away with his bag pack. The person sustained serious jaw injuries, a cut near his eyes, which needed stitches, several bruises, and was rushed to the Richmond University Medical Centre in West Brighton. He was the sixth victim in Staten Island since the month of April and causing fury among the people.

On 7th of July a group of blacks attacked a 30-year-old man who returning home after purchasing groceries. They too shouted at him and caused injuries. On the 10th of April, there was another case of racism wherein a Hispanic man was beaten by a baseball bat and made unconscious by a group of black men while walking alone on the post Avenue near Clove Road. On April 25th, another Mexican was hit with a bat in Castleton Avenue close to Port Richmond Avenue.

A group of 3 unknown men in the month of June attacked Alejandro Galindo. This incident took place in the Forest Avenue in Port Richmond. Due to a hard blow on the right eye, Galindo had to put 10 stitches that blurred his vision. He may also have to undergo a surgery due to several blood clots in his brain.
