15-year-old Cinnamin Clark said that people often jumped from the rocks to dive into the swimming hole. A young girl recently broke her arm after such an act.

Emergency responders claimed that they frequently rescued injured swimmers from a spot close to Bronx Zoo. 58-year-old FDNY Capt. Jason Principio of Ladder said that such incidents happened at least twice a month, in spite of the warning signboards that warned swimmers to stay away from this swimming hole, which had no fencing around it and is situated above the waterfall in Bronx River.

16-year-old Wanda De La Cruz said that a barbed fence wire around the swimming pool would stop such incidences.

13-year-old Santiago Shulterbrandt said that children often swam in this area in spite of being warned about the consequences by the park people, but the police have never visited this place so far.

The city Parks Department has brought about some changes to make this place more secure. They have put a fence around the swimming pool and a “No swimming” sign board to stop people from swimming in this area.

Bronx, New York - July 28th 2010 - The police stated that an unexpected wave of violence at the junction of Jackson Ave. and E. 166th St. in the Bronx has taken the lives of two people in three days.

An 18-year-old high school senior and a 33-year-old ex-convict were the two victims who were killed within a feet of each other in Morrisania.

A resident named Eric Rosario who was standing at the memorial of student Troynisha Harris said that it is maddening to see such crimes happening near someone’s memorial.

This incident happened on a Saturday morning when Harris was sitting with her boyfriend in a stoop when a mad man suddenly jumped out of a black Lincoln Town Car and assaulted them with a knife. Police stated that Harris died at once while her friend sustained minor injuries. Police feel that Harris was targeted intentionally but purpose was not understood.

Another incident took place after midnight hours close to 1110 Jackson Ave where the dead body of Fred White, a Bronx man an ex-con was discovered with several bullet injuries. Until late last night, police were looking for both the murderers. Friends and mother of victim Haris gathered around the place where she was murdered while the body of ex-con Fred White was still lying in the street. Sabrina Kelly, the mother of Late Harris felt that the cops had to find the killer of her child and added that she would then attend every court date, parole hearings even if it takes place 50 years henceforth. The killer should be made aware that he had extinguished a life, which had not yet begin in the real sense, destroying her ambitions to be a pediatrician.

Sharay Kelly, sister of Harris said that she was killed for no obvious reason at the tender age of 18 when her life had not begun properly.

These killings have brought the tally of deaths to seven at the 42nd Precinct, in Morrisania’s during the year, as per police statistics.

The city had 288 murders during the current year as compared to 251 deaths in the same period of the previous year.

The twin murders have made the residents nervous.

Dion Walker, 22, a recent college grad said that it is frightening to come out and sit in a quiet corner, he also wished that police would find out the reasons for such happenings though he was doubtful to see an end for such happenings as things were getting worse.

Bronx, Ny, 2010-08-01 - Four men murdered an old grandfather named Juan Lopez who belonged to Bronx for a cell phone. According to the police and his family members, he was kicked and punched so hard that he fell unconscious and never recovered. The victim’s wife Evelyn Lopez said that the ruthless men killed him like an animal. She said that he was a very social person who loved to help people. Two children and three grandchildren survive him. This incident happened on 24th of July, when he left home to help his friend shift. As he walked back home in Caudwell Ave. he was attacked by these four men who hit on his head so hard that he died. Lopez was a well-known person in Mott Haven and his neighbors and friends would always remember him for his wittiness, kind, and helpful nature.

His daughter Melissa Lopez said that he was very popular among kids as he joked and played with them and it is hard to believe that anybody could be so brutal to him.

Police said that the surveillance recording showed that the four men who attacked him used their fists and feet to cause injuries. However, they have not been arrested so far.

With tearful eyes, his daughter Melissa Lopez wished that she could spend more time with him. She pleaded to the public to look for the killers and hand them over to the police so that her father’s soul would rest in peace.

The accident took place at Second Avenue between 124th and 125th Streets at around 9 a.m. The truck was entering a ramp for the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge.

Victim’s mother who is pregnant - Erica Lorenzo, 35 - was rushed to Harlem Hospital and is reported to be in a serious but stable condition, police said.

Witnesses told that paramedics tried to revive the boy, but he was pronounced dead at the hospital.

No charges have been filed against the driver, who remained on the scene.

It was not clear whether the truck driver ever saw the child crossing the street along with his mother before hitting them as he was driving his yellow MTA vehicle through the intersection, witnesses said.

Some residents also told that the intersection, which is used by thousands of cars to reach the bridge everyday, is an accident prone area - and an accident like this was just a matter of time. There is a park right here and a pool. Kids are regularly seen crossing by. Most of the car drivers often indulge in rash driving here.
