The wedding party was horrified as one of the rifles being used as props went off hitting the photographer on his head killing him on the spot.

The would-be couple postponed the wedding due to pending police investigation. Col. Teo Luzi spokesperson of the Palermo police informed that the deceased photographer was a replacement since the original photographer had fallen sick and could not be present. Possession of rifles is legally permitted in this picturesque island of Italy, which is famous for Mafia activities. They also have a tradition of firing guns during family celebrations and injuries to partygoers are not very uncommon.

Licodia’s parents have been tight lipped about the incident, which may result in criminal charges against them as the incident occurred at their residence prior to leaving for the local church. Neighbors claim that such a tragic incident happened after many of them survived near misses and broken bones.

Emergency responders claimed that they frequently rescued injured swimmers from a spot close to Bronx Zoo.  58-year-old FDNY Capt. Jason Principio of Ladder said that such incidents happened at least twice a month, in spite of the warning signboards that warned swimmers to stay away from this swimming hole, which had no fencing around it and is situated above the waterfall in Bronx River.

16-year-old Wanda De La Cruz said that a barbed fence wire around the swimming pool would stop such incidences.

13-year-old Santiago Shulterbrandt said that children often swam in this area in spite of being warned about the consequences by the park people, but the police have never visited this place so far.

The city Parks Department has brought about some changes to make this place more secure. They have put a fence around the swimming pool and a “No swimming” sign board to stop people from swimming in this area.

He was crossing East Harlem street with his mother when this accident took place.

The accident took place at Second Avenue between 124th and 125th Streets at around 9 a.m. The truck was entering a ramp for the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge.

Victim’s mother who is pregnant - Erica Lorenzo, 35 - was rushed to Harlem Hospital and is reported to be in a serious but stable condition, police said.

Witnesses told that paramedics tried to revive the boy, but he was pronounced dead at the hospital.

No charges have been filed against the driver, who remained on the scene.

It was not clear whether the truck driver ever saw the child crossing the street along with his mother before hitting them as he was driving his yellow MTA vehicle through the intersection, witnesses said.

Some residents also told that the intersection, which is used by thousands of cars to reach the bridge everyday, is an accident prone area - and an accident like this was just a matter of time. There is a park right here and a pool. Kids are regularly seen crossing by. Most of the car drivers often indulge in rash driving here.
