A 56-year-old man was struck and killed by a tow truck on March 01. He was trying to cross a busy Bronx street when he was mowed down.

Police has identified victim as Jose Cruz who was trying to cross Broadway at W. 251st St. in Riverdale. The victim died before paramedics could take him to New York-Presbyterian Medical Center Columbia, officials said.

Investigators believe Cruz was not in the crosswalk when he was mowed down by a Riverdale Towing and Collision truck. The driver of the tow truck has not been charged and investigators do not believe he was speeding at the time of the fatal accident.
