The federal judge on Monday rejected a request by relatives of 9/11 victims to sift through tons of debris from the Fresh Kills landfill in Staten Island. They wanted to search for the human remains of their loved ones who perished in 9/11 terrorist attacks.
The judge, Alvin K. Hellerstein of Federal District Court in Manhattan, said that he would deny the request, praising the city for undertaking the “herculean job of repairing the gaping hole in our society,” and saying that nothing — not even the upheaval of 1.8 million tons of landfill debris — would ever return the dead [...]

Police has arrested 19-year-old man in connection with the shooting death of a Queens teenager, Brandon Bethea who was shot on May, 08.
Police are also searching for searching for his accomplices involved in the crime.
Brandon Bethea, aged 15, was shot in the head by a stray bullet on May 17, while he was partying with friends outside the Redfern Houses in Far Rockaway.
The suspect has been held on charges of murder ( second-degree), manslaughter, criminal possession of weapon.
Police search is going on to nab his accomplice.

A five-year-old boy received serious injuries after a fire engulfed his Brooklyn apartment on Knickerbocker Avenue. The fire broke out at around 3p.m, July 07.
Fire officials are investigating the cause of this fire, but it is reported that the boy named Jay Morales, had threatened to set the apartment on fire to kill his grandmother who didn’t allow him to go to the park.
The boy was rebuked for making prank calls to the 911. It is reported that he then found a lighter and set fire to the curtains of his apartment.
