Residents of Queens, New York apartments returned back to their apartment buildings which caught fire after a gas explosion last week.
The residents started moving back into 11 of the 37 apartments which were vacated after the fire accident.
More than a dozen people were injured in the gas explosion which took place at 147-25 Sanford Avenue. Mr. Edgar Zaldumbide and his two year old daughter Melissa received serious burn injuries in this fire accident.

A man in Putnam County, New York did a heroic act by saving his pals by making a 911 call before loosing his life in a capsized boat on the Hudson River.
According to officials the desperate SOS call made by Steven Vasta just before midnight Monday saved four of his friends trapped with him in the hull of the craft. Rescuers thus reached the boat in time to save all except Vasta who had already dead by then.

A New York construction worker got seriously injured after falling from fourth floor of a building in Queens this morning.
According to officials a 40 year old fell when he was installing guard rails on a residential building. He was not wearing safety harness at that time.
The worker was taken to Elmhurst Hospital by the fire officials and was unconscious with multiple injuries.
A stop-work order was issued by the Department of Buildings for safety violations including lack of a safety harness.

A car hit two motorcycles near Staten Island, New York on Monday evening killing one biker and injuring two others.
The car, Volkswagen Jetta hit motorcycles sending two people off their motorbike along the pavement for around 20 feet.
The car didn’t stopped there but ran over the second bike, thus crushing the rider underneath to death.
According to Nick Prada, who was the eyewitness of car-motorcycle accident said that it sounded like an explosion, and then both car and bike engulfed into fire ball within few seconds.

A nine-year-old girl was critically injured in a hit-and-run accident at Rockaway Avenue in Brownsville, Brooklyn. She was hit by a tan Nissan Maxima. The driver of the car reportedly fled from the scene.
She was rushed to Brookdale Hospital, where she is in critical condition.
Police is searching for the driver who fled from the scene and abandoned the car several blocks away on Park Place.

A 64-year-old woman, Ruth Wade was arrested on charges of stabbing an acquaintance to death. The incident took place near Staten Island, New York.
The woman has a history of violence and drug arrests and was arrested for fatally stabbing her roommate repeatedly with a screwdriver.
She was well known in drug circles as “Grandma,” and she was staying with the victim and his wife. At some point last Thursday, she had a heated argument with the couple after which she stabbed Henry Showard with a screwdriver. The victim received serious stab wounds in the chest and was died.

An 11-year old boy died after getting hit by a speeding car. The boy named Rondell Grant was attending a family barbeque while he got hit in front of his relatives who were present at the spot. He was rushed to the Kings County Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The impact - captured by a neighbor’s surveillance camera shows Rondell getting hit by the car, and then flying through the air and crashing against a parked scooter.

A 17 year old Brooklyn, New York teenager was shot dead while he was sitting on a bench with a friend. The shooting incident was reported outside Bedford-Stuyvesant housing project on Friday.
The victim Bertrand Jocelyn, was shot in the head and died. He was sitting along with his friend who escaped unhurt. The shooter fled the spot and is still at large.

The New York City Comptroller reported that the Department of Education does not properly address complaints related to city school buses.
The New York City Comptroller Bill Thompson found that DOE (Pupil Transportation) has received more than 360,000 complaints related to School Buses. Some of the complaints include illegal weapons on school buses and late arrivals.
It was found that several of these complaints were not addressed properly, and DOE took more than a year to address some of the complaints.

A minivan resulted in car accident pile-up which left seven injured on Staten Island, New York Thursday night.
The victims include a young pedestrian who has received serious injuries in the accident. He was taken to Staten University Hospital, NY along with six others which includes driver of the minivan.
Police are probing whether the driver was drunk and might have been driving under influence (DUI).
No charges have been filed so far against the driver.
